Sinful Business Owner Wins National Award!
The NAWBO has awarded its 2010 Young Woman Business Owner of The Year award to Laurie Crow. Laurie is the owner of Sinful Wine & Spirits, a woman owned liquor store with a heart of gold. Not content with creating a profit, this family owned and operated business regularly hosts fundraisers to help people in need.
Bloomington, Minnesota, May 14th, 2009 - Laurie Crow of Sinful Wine & Spirits has won the 2010 Young Woman Business Owner of The Year award from NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners). This follows her 2009 award for the NAWBO Woman on the Way award. It’s no simple task to win these awards, along with raising four teenagers! Businesses must show the success of a unique product or service and a commitment to improving their community. Winning not one, but two awards in consecutive years shows how much passion Laurie has to be a success in every aspect of her life.
This family operated business does more than sell fine wine and liquors. In the spirit of supporting other small business owners, the store features family owned wineries and vineyards. Laurie is also adamant about giving back to her community and those in need. Through monthly wine tastings, they host fundraisers for various organizations. Bloomington, MN June/July - August/September 2008 – Bloomington based business Owner and Manager, Laurie Crow of Sinful Wine and Spirits is featured in the June/July edition of national publication, Working Mother Magazine and August/September edition of local publication Bloomington Magazine.
Following a separation and divorce from her former husband, Laurie decided to train as a commercial airline pilot. Brian, her instructor, was also recently divorced. As fate brought them together they then married two years later, bringing two children each along with them to create a wonderful family.
The unfortunate, turned fortunate, mishap of a broken foot in 2006, gave Laurie the opportunity to "re-create her own future" and thus, Sinful Wine & Spirits was born. This unique shop is unlike any other, from its Merlot colored walls to its beautiful display of redwood wine racks it is truly an impressive sight to see!
Laurie has created an environment unlike any other liquor store in the Twin Cities. Sinful Wine & Spirits showcases wines from family owned vineyards, offers unique spirit selections and customer driven options, including a "Build Your Own Sinful 6 Pack Of Beer" concept which features well over 150 beers and malt beverages. She then rounds out her creative thought process with her monthly In-Store "Wine Club" and "Then Some" Events to the numerous community involvement’s in which she hosts, sponsors and supports. As one of the few female owned liquor stores within the Twin Cities, it is clear that Laurie is taking Sinful Wine & Spirits to new heights with no signs of stopping!
